Section 45
Transfer of Goods
(1) After the goods reach the destination, the consignee can collect the goods from the respective station by submitting the railway receipt. (2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), in case the consignee is unable to submit the railway receipt, the concerned station master may hand over the goods on the basis of his identity card or other evidence.
(3) At the time of handing over the goods, the concerned head of the station shall hand over the goods after receiving the goods from the recipient, if any amount is to be received from him.
(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-sections (1) and (3), the consignee shall deliver his goods from the following places:-
(a) in cases where it is not under the supervision of the Board, to the concerned officer in accordance with the law at his place, or from such place in the warehouse, and
(b) from a place such as a private or government warehouse or export processing zone within a dry port or container freight station.
(5)- If the recipient does not come to take delivery of the goods within thirty days of the goods arriving at the destination, the ownership, transfer and other arrangements of such goods shall be as prescribed.
